Temperature:
The optimum temperature for growth for bougainvillea is 15-20 degrees Celsius, but it can withstand high temperatures of 35 degrees Celsius in summer and maintain an environment of no less than 5 degrees Celsius in winter. If the temperature is below 5 degrees Celsius for a long time, it will be susceptible to freezing and falling leaves. It likes a warm and humid climate and is not cold-resistant. It can survive the winter safely at a temperature above 3°C, and bloom at a temperature above 15°C.
Illumination:
Bougainvillea like light and are positive flowers. Insufficient light in the growing season will lead to weak growth of plants, affecting pregnancy buds and flowering. Therefore, young seedlings that are not newly potted all year round should be placed in semi-shade first. It should be placed in front of the south-facing window in winter, and the sunshine time should not be less than 8 hours, otherwise a lot of leaves are prone to appear. For short-day flowers, the daily light time is controlled at about 9 hours, and they can bud and bloom after one and a half months.
Soil:
Bougainvillea prefer loose and fertile slightly acidic soil, avoid waterlogging. When potting, you can use one part each of leaf mulch, peat soil, sandy soil, and garden soil, and add a small amount of decomposed cake residue as base fertilizer, and mix it to make cultivation soil. Flowering plants should be repotted and replaced with soil once a year, and the time should be before germination in early spring. When repotting, use scissors to cut off dense and senescent branches.
Moisture:
Water should be watered once a day in spring and autumn, and once a day in the morning and evening in summer. In winter, the temperature is low and the plants are in a dormant state. Watering should be controlled to keep the pot soil in a moist state.
